Welcome!

If life seems out of balance, you find it difficult to cope with stress, you can’t stop worrying, you are often sad or depressed, or you feel dissatisfied with relationships or your life’s direction, then perhaps psychotherapy can help.

I specialize in helping adults, couples, and older adolescents (age 16 and older) overcome issues that range from anxiety, depression, mild trauma, anger, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, compulsive behaviors, and substance abuse/codependency issues to managing life transitions.  Therapeutic approaches used include cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, existential, and humanistic modalities.

The overall goal of my psychotherapy practice is to improve individuals’ lives through an integrated, holistic approach that addresses emotional, physical, and social aspects of well-being.  I am dedicated to collaborative goal setting that ensures that your priorities are emphasized in the treatment plan.  A variety of evidence-based and time tested techniques are utilized for reducing distress, changing unhealthy behavior patterns, finding balance, improving overall health and well-being, and increasing life satisfaction.  Identifying your strengths and natural healing ability are important pieces of the therapeutic process.

Our work will begin with an initial assessment period followed by time to consider and discuss your goals.  My role is to provide a supportive and encouraging environment, a safe place to reflect on your life and to examine the reasons behind your feelings and actions.  At times I may challenge you to explore new ideas that can help create the healing and changes you seek.

For therapy to be effective, the experience needs to fit each unique individual.  One of my strengths is being sensitive to each individual client’s personality and needs.  I have a calm, rational, nonjudgmental, caring approach and can quickly demonstrate understanding and offer insight.  Clients working with me report they feel understood, discover ways to nurture their own inner resources, and gain insights that help bring about positive change, healing and life satisfaction.
